The Precipitated Calcium Carbonate cycle begins with the limestone extraction from our own quarry, followed by the Calcination and Hydration of selected materials which obtains the different lime qualities. The cycle is completed by carbonating the top quality lime with the CO2 generated in the previous calcination step to obtain the customized Precipitated Calcium Carbonates.

QuarryThe first process is the extraction of the Calcium Carbonate mineral (limestone) from the quarry. After crushing and classification, a selected raw material is obtained which is then used in the process of calcination. |

CalcinationThe calcination step is carried out in energy efficient regenerative kilns where Calcium Oxide (quicklime) is obtained. This product becomes the raw material used for the rest of the manufactured products. |

HydrationCalcium Oxide slaking takes place in a continuous hydrator where Calcium Hydroxide (slaked lime) is obtained. |

CarbonationCustomized Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is obtained by reacting in adjusted physico-chemical conditions slaked lime with CO2 coming from the calcination process. |
