The pharmaceutical and food industries use different components, reagents and additives in different applications depending on their purpose.
– Calcium Hydroxide is used to manufacture gelatins as a reagent for food additives manufacturing and to soften drinking waters.
– Calcium Oxide finds a particular application in the manufacture of certain animal nutrition products, especially aimed at ruminants, in which animal feed with a high energy yield can be obtained. It is also used as a reactive for sugar production.
– Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (especially CALPREC PA) is used in pharmaceutical and food industries as a food additive due to its chemical purity and its high specific surface area compared to natural carbonates. It is used either as a calcium supplement in different preparations, such as soluble cocoa products, or as an integral additive in bakery and confectionery products. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the production of antibiotics by fermentation, or as an excipient in tablets. Finally, it is commonly used in the production of latex products.
